Cortes E.W.E (Electronic Wind Ensemble) | Gårdhaven
A brand new Copenhagen-based electronic wind ensemble created by bassist and composer Thomas
Cortes. Reimagining the role of horns as engines of the dance floor, the project draws inspiration
from the origins of big band music as functional dance music—meant for movement, energy, and
collective experience. Blending the physical power of a horn section with influences from techno,
house, disco and electronic club culture, Cortes E.W.E. seeks to move horns beyond the traditional
jazz setting and back into the club.
The ensemble consists of an international team of experienced musicians. Together they represent
the full spectrum of big band horn sound, which in combination with electronic groovebox and bass
represents a new, compact and forward-looking format.
