Pille-Rite Rei from Saaremaa, Estonia, studied voice and classical saxophone and gained recognition as a young musician. Under the guidance of jazz guitarist Tiit Paulus, she studied jazz saxophone at Georg Ots Tallinn Music College before discovering her passion for singing while walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. She further developed her vocal and compositional skills at Skurups Folkhögskola and later won the “New Danish Jazz Artist of the Year 2016” award in Denmark. An exchange stay in Brazil led to collaborations with prominent musicians, including Roberto Menescal, and recordings on projects such as Augusto Mattoso’s albums Modern Double Bass Trio and Brazilian Adventure. Now based in Denmark, her music blends American jazz, Scandinavian influences, and Brazilian rhythms.
