Pedersen/Ryde Duo – Jazz at Damhussøen
As part of Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2026, Jazz at Damhussøen presents the Pedersen/Ryde Duo.
For this concert, the duo will perform original compositions by both Peter and Niels, as well as selected jazz standards.
About the musicians:
Peter Pedersen, born in Denmark in 1997, has more than 10 years of formal musical training, including jazz guitar at the Syddansk Musikkonservatorium and classical guitar at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. He is recognized for his technical skill and his ability to move between different musical styles, combining jazz improvisation with classical techniques to create a distinctive and expressive musical voice.
Niels Ryde, born in Denmark in 1964, began playing bass at the age of 13 and studied classical double bass at 16. By the age of 18, he was performing professionally on both electric bass and double bass in a wide variety of ensem...

Niels Ryde, born in Denmark in 1964, began playing bass at the age of 13 and studied classical double bass at 16. By the age of 18, he was performing professionally on both electric bass and double bass in a wide variety of ensembles. He also studied jazz bass with the legendary Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen. From the mid-1980s onwards, Ryde became recognized as a virtuoso and highly expressive bassist on the international jazz scene. With more than 40 years of experience, he is also a dedicated educator, teaching bass, ensemble playing, piano, ear training, composition, and leading workshops in Denmark and abroad....
