IMPROVISATION AND SUBLIME INTERPLAY – FROM TWO HEAVYWEIGHTS OF JAZZ
This afternoon offers a unique collaboration between two of Danish jazz’s true heavyweights: Jacob Christoffersen (piano) and Thomas Fonnesbæk (bass). Both are established names on the national and international jazz scene, and both are recipients of the prestigious Ben Webster Prize.
Their music spans a wide rhythmic and melodic universe, pulsating with improvisation and exquisite interplay — experienced here at close range. The duo presents original compositions and American standards within modern jazz, Nordic moods, ballads, swing, and bebop.
“... here we get everything from the most beautiful ballads to the most intense tempo excursions, with Brazilian excesses too. Christoffersen and Fonnesbæk fit together perfectly and sound like they have been playing together for an eternity or two.”
