Kimbra Koil
Kimbra Koil is a Copenhagen-based quintet that blends circular rhythmic figurations with fluid, open structures. With its unique instrumentation, the group explores new sonic possibilities and interactions in an adventurous hybrid between avant-garde jazz and chamber music, where contrast is the key word.
The band was assembled by Thomsen in 2025 in order to actualize his musical vision and unite some of the most interesting musicians on the contemporary scene: Michaela Turcerová is playing with a unique presence and has gained international attention for her solo work in which she finds bold new ways for the saxophone as a sound object. Mika Persdotter is a classically trained violist but her roots in folk music and a strong intuition as an improvisor makes her highly in demand and capable of fitting in almost any musical situation.
