Behind K A L E II D O are saxophonist Cecilie Strange and guitarist Anna Roemer, who have backgrounds in respectively jazz and pop/rock/indie. In the fall of 2023, album number three was released, with guests from Rumpistol on synthesizer, keyboard and sampling, Lars Vissing on trumpet with various effects, Rasmus Sitarz on drums with effects and drumpad and Hannah Schneider on wordless vocals.
K A L E II D O performs live with changing crews ranging from duo to sextet, making their
expression and sound are also in constant change and development. K A L E II D O has played at venues throughout the country
as well as festival jobs such as Rising Festival in Musikhuzet, Rønne and in Brorsons Kirken during Copenhagen Jazz
Festival in July. The latter concert was reported with five hearts in Politiken, which i.a. writes; “Let's just
call it a dream team... Did it manage to captivate and move that night? To the highest degree”.
In August 2021, K A L E II D O was selected to play the Summer Stage on DR P8 Jazz. A program series with host Mikael Simpson under the theme of duos. Anna and Cecilie were put together in a two-hour program that alternated between playing live and interviews about their inspiration as musicians and in K A L E II D O. During the CopenhagenJazz Festival 2022 K A L E II D O played a total of three concerts with three different line ups including . in the King's Garden. For SPOT festival 2023, the duo tried their hand at the big band format when they played a special concert with the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra and a number of composers from DIEM.
K A L E II D Our very own distinctive style has created excitement among the audience and not least among reviewers at home and abroad. The radio station P8 Jazz has embraced K A L E II D O in particular, with e.g. VOYAGE as Album of the Week on release. K A L E II D O won the Carl Prize in the category "Jazz Composer of the Year" in 2023, was nominated for the same award in 2021 and nominated for the Danish Music Awards Jazz in the category "New Name of the Year" in the same year. K A L E II D Our music has also landed solidly on Spotify Editorial playlists such as State of Jazz and Jazz Today and as a result has garnered streams worldwide....
