Sunday Sessions is a new initiative presented in KoncertKirken for creative and improvised music, aimed at inter-generational and cross-collaborative connection. Through concerts in partnership with other individuals and artists in residence, we aim to inspire an artistic exchange among musical circles. Unfolk is a Latvian piano and drum duo. It consists of two musicians and friends, Jēkabs Rēders and Sebastians Macats. The project began as a drum duet in Latvia. Still, the meeting of the two musical beings took on a new form and purpose in Copenhagen, during their studies at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory. Both musicians are equally interested in various musical styles such as Nordic minimalism, Baltic romanticism, pop music, and improvised music. Ballads is the meeting of Sture Ericson, Mikkel Wilstrup and Halfdan Magnus Stefansson.
It’s a fascination of the old school. Rockin’ freejazz and abstract free improvisation.
Wanting to be zen but being too messy to make it for that.
Deconstructing their instruments, both culturally and literally - delving into very abstract sounds until they turn very concrete.
