Children of Fish is an international trio consisting of three friendly creatures - Malina Midera, Petter Asbjørnsen, and Jēkabs Rēders. We are united by the desire for mutual understanding and free expression in music as well as in life, so our music radiates joy, freedom, and complex simplicity.
On October 25, 2024, the band released their debut album 'Sunrise Paper Punk' under the label Østersperle Plader Records. The album is eclectic and expressive, interweaving improvisation, composition, and post-production through the progression of 12 unique songs, composed by all the members of the trio.
While being a traditional piano trio, the band chooses to step away from the tradition and embrace our influences from different fields and genres for example synth-pop, Nordic jazz, and European improvised music. Their philosophy is to strive for honest, borderless creativity while radiating joy, acceptance, and vulnerability.

We believe that our music embodies a sense of child-like innocence combined with deep sensibility and a tactile approach to sound and inter-play. Our aim is to embrace and reflect on the simple, honest, and quirky aspects of humanity and express it joyfully and creatively through our music.
