Carsten Dahl is one of the Danish jazz scene's greatest jazz composers and pianists. A master of improvisation who evades genre determination. Carsten Dahl has performed in many different constellations – including in the trio with drummer Thomas Blachman and double bassist Lennart Ginman, although solo piano plays a large part in Carsten Dahl's career. Carsten Dahl is one of the Danish jazz scene's greatest jazz composers and pianists. A master of improvisation who evades genre determination. Carsten Dahl has performed in many different constellations – including in the trio with drummer Thomas Blachman and double bassist Lennart Ginman, although solo piano plays a large part in Carsten Dahl's career. His two solo albums have been awarded the Danish Music Awards Jazz for best album of the year in 2004 and 2011. On his albums, he draws inspiration from both the classical pianist Glenn Gould and jazz pianists such as Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans and Bud Powell. Carsten Dahl cultivates improvisation to the utmost, which draws on a large and broad knowledge of the extensive expressions of jazz. Carsten Dahl, born in 1967 in Charlottenlund, is a pianist, composer, visual artist, poet, lecturer and professor emeritus from the Rhythmic Music Academy in Copenhagen.
