The core of the ambitious musicians’ collective and record label Aar & Dag is constituted by Michael Mørkholt, Anders Lauge Meldgaard, Andreas Pallisgaard, and Mads Forsby. Through experimental concert formats, innovative release methods, homemade instruments, and unconventional scores, they explore the intersection of composition and improvisation, creating new musical languages. Across Aar & Dag’s discography, cyclic motifs and open musical landscapes form the foundation.

The lead-up to this concert began at Bådehuset on July 1, 2023, where 30 instructional cards with time and tonal indications formed an open score, performed over three concerts by 33 musicians. Recordings of these three concerts have been merged into one 45-minute composition, released on the cassette A MAJOR CELEBRATION.

This evening A Major Celebration will be performed by Aar & Dag + a whole bunch of guest musicians.
