At that time, the vibraphone was a popular instrument in the Latin jazz genre, showcased by Cal Tjader, Dave Pike, Victor Feldman, Emil Richards and Bobby Hutcherson, among others, all collaborating with the most prominent musicians coming from the South – especially Cuban musicians like Mongo Santamaria, Willie Bobo, Carlos “Patato” Valdes and Armando Peraza were in high demand, but also pianists Vince Guaraldi and Eddie Palmieri shone ... the mambo fever raged!
