Few jazz musicians have reached the same audience as American guitar icon Pat Metheny (b. 1954). Since his breakthrough album “Bright Size Life” from 1976, he has been a global favorite among both audiences and critics. He has played with giants such as Sonny Rollins, Ornette Coleman, Charlie Haden, Chick Corea and Joni Mitchell. He has written film music and received an impressive 20 Grammy awards throughout his career. Jazz improvisation is his home turf, but inspirations from both rock and traditional American music are evident in his expression – always with an exuberant sense of rhythm and melody.

Side-Eye's most recent album was released in February 2026 with the title “Side-Eye III+“, where Metheny, in addition to the permanent core of pianist Chris Fishman and drummer Joe Dyson, was joined by, among others: Copenhagen Jazz Festival star Brandee Younger and a vocal ensemble led by Mark Kibble from Take 6.
“I wanted to create an ongoing platform to host a rotating cast of the newer generations of musicians who have particularly caught my interest along the way. From my earliest days in Kansas City onward, I was the beneficiary of so many older musicians hiring me, which gave me a chance to develop through the prism of their experiences and the particular demands of what their music implied”, says Pat Metheny about the cross-generational project.
This summer, Pat Metheny is joined by Chris Fishman – particularly known for his collaborations with artists such as Flying Lotus and Thundercat – and Joe Dyson, who is the epitome of a modern New Orleans drummer. They will be joined by bassist Jermaine Paul and singing percussionist Leonard Patton.
