Simon Spang-Hanssen Brazilian Project
Simon Spang-Hanssen promises the audience an energetic and colorful meeting between jazz and Brazilian tradition. The repertoire consists predominantly of the Spang-Hanssens compositions, arranged especially for the context and strongly colored by the Brazilian rhythms, as well as contributions from other members of the group and reinterpretations of individual classics from the Brazilian "songbook" (Jobim, Pixinguinha, etc.)
Through the collaboration with Brazilian musicians such as Nenê, Mozar Terra, Chuim and others, a certain Brazilian inspiration is often present in Spang-Hanssen's compositions. In the "Brazilian Project" he has teamed up with a high-level rhythm group, particularly present on the contemporary scene in Brazil (with e.g. Milton Nascimento, Toninho Horta, Vinicius Dorim, Nivaldo Ornelas, Vander Lee and internationally with e.g. .Maria Schneider and Chris Potter).
