Lundgren/Guiliani/Nilsson/ Svensson: Jazz Noir
The title links to the "film noir" of the 1940s and 50s, a subgenre within the crime film that is characterized by dark and contrasting images. The connection is made to emphasize the features of sentimentality and drama that the music contains. To a certain extent - as with the theme from Chinatown - the music is taken directly from films. It primarily concerns newly written original music, but also music from Italy and Scandinavia.
In a completely new constellation, Jan Lundgren meets the prominent jazz musicians Rosario Giuliani, Morten Lund and Mattias Svensson. The Italian alto saxophonist Rosario Giuliani belongs to the European jazz elite and has released a number of acclaimed CDs. We also hear Mattias Svensson, bass player in Jan Lundgren's own trio, as well as Denmark's renowned drum star Morten Lund.
All in all, it will be a melodic and emotional program - where the Mediterranean meets cool Swedish winds.
