Kauflin/Fonnesbæk/Nilsson (US/DK) – UDSOLGT
Review from storyvillerecords.com:
"It is powerful and dynamic jazz. Thomas Fonnesbæk is currently on a trio record together with Americans Justin Kauflin (piano) and Billy Williams (drums). I and several other reviewers have previously highlighted the inspiration from Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen. I would like to tone that down in this review. Fonnesbæk is a bassist in a class of his own. He has the Danish bass school in his baggage, but is somewhere else. A lot has happened since NHØP and others ruled the jazz bass.
If you have trio jazz well under your skin, where McCoy Tyner (Fonnesbæk plays the classic Tyner composition Inception on the record) and Chick Corea are among the heroes, then you can't go wrong with Sharing. Justin Kauflin is rightly hailed as one of the greatest jazz talents in the USA in recent years. Fonnesbæk knows how to take advantage of that. He has written a number of melodies where Kauflin gets space and air to unfold his piano wings.
