Morkl is a trio consisting of singer and percussionist Mette Marie Jensen Ørnstrup, guitarist Gorm Askjær and pianist and keyboardist Olga Witte. With sound, the trio tells colourful stories about runaway cats, dove-infested barns and wolfhounds. Each concert is completely new and the musical stories are created for the individual concert. Everything takes place in an experimental and modern tonal language, where the musicians draw both on their shared background in jazz, especially with emphasis on improvisation, and on inspiration from modern compositional music, Ottoman classical music and Balinese gamelan. A basic love of noise, clatter and hubbub is also clearly evident in the soundscapes. For this concert, the trio has a guest in the form of free-running saxophonist Johannes Gammelgaard.
