Stefan Pasborg – Danish Super Trio
“This is not just one of Europe’s most interesting drummers, but one of Europe’s most interesting musicians… Stefan Pasborg, the H.C. Andersen of contemporary jazz.”
That is how the British magazine Jazz Journal described this Danish drummer a few years ago.
Over the past 15–20 years, Stefan Pasborg has established himself as one of Denmark’s most successful instrumentalists, performing more than 1,000 concerts across 40 different countries and five continents. From Shanghai to Vancouver, Monte Carlo to Moscow, Varanger to Casablanca, Dakar to Zanzibar, and New York to São Paulo. Along the way, he has also released a wealth of significant recordings.
In addition, he has been a dynamic and visionary driving force behind numerous initiatives, including the band Ibrahim Electric and the record label ILK Music. Anyone who has followed even a little of what has been happening outs...

Over the past 15–20 years, Stefan Pasborg has established himself as one of Denmark’s most successful instrumentalists, performing more than 1,000 concerts across 40 different countries and five continents. In addition, he has been a dynamic and visionary driving force behind numerous initiatives, including the band Ibrahim Electric and the record label ILK Music. Anyone who has followed even a little of what has been happening outside the Danish mainstream music scene over the past 15–20 years will undoubtedly have encountered Stefan Pasborg’s endlessly inventive drumming at some point.
Now, Stefan Pasborg is adding another chapter to his story with this super trio. He has invited two of Denmark’s other outstanding musicians and personalities to join him in exploring new musical territory: Carsten Dahl on piano and Fredrik Lundin on saxophone.
All three musicians have something truly exceptional to express. When these three gentlemen take the stage together, audiences can look forward to an evening of beautiful, heartfelt music and bold musical explorations!
Curious to hear their music? Here is a video from one of their concerts at Jazzhus Montmartre in 2025:

“Pasborg has put together a Danish super trio with Carsten Dahl on piano, electric piano and percussion, and Fredrik Lundin on tenor saxophone and flute. These are simply some of the best musicians Danish jazz has to offer and, despite belonging to slightly different generations, they communicate exceptionally well with one another.” ****** - Nettavisen, Norway
“From start to finish, this was a fantastic concert. Fredrik Lundin plays his horn with a raw and powerful tone that is both original and perfectly suited to the other two musicians. We know Carsten Dahl as a creative force who can do almost anything he wants with a finely tuned grand piano. Combined with Pasborg’s explosive, sky-scraping bursts of energy behind the drums, the result is a powerhouse that could put an end to all onshore wind power development if we had annexed the trio here in western Norway. Fortunately, the trio had brought copies of their new album, Dear Alex, which really flew off the shelves after the concert.” - Salt Peanuts, Norway
“They are three of the most prominent musicians on the Danish jazz scene in this millennium. In that sense, calling them a super trio is not entirely inaccurate.” - JazzNyt, Denmark
