Albin Ormegard is a Swedish guitarist based in Copenhagen. He grew up in Katrineholm, where an active cultural scene sparked his early interest in music. Initially influenced by rock, metal, and hip-hop, he later turned to jazz after being introduced to it by saxophonist Nisse Sandström.
He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and was later selected as the first Scandinavian musician for the prestigious Focusyear programme at Jazzcampus Basel, where he collaborated with leading figures of the contemporary jazz scene.
Ormegard has since established himself on the European jazz scene, performing across Scandinavia and much of Europe. His debut album "Look Up" will be released in April 2026 on the Swiss label Clap Your Hands. He is currently active with ensembles such as Bänz Oester and the New Rainmakers and the Sarah Chaksad Quartet.
His music moves between acoustic and electric textures, combining strong melodic ideas with open, exploratory structur...
