Come to Copenhagen this summer and develop your skills in contemporary composition, songwriting and production. Are you a young talented artists? Sign up for the summer camps at Rhythmic Music Conservatory (RMC) in Copenhagen, July 10-14.

Cph Contemporary Composer Camps 2017 are intense summer days with sessions in an exclusive international group of peers headed by influential contemporary composers and producers – focusing on either contemporary jazz composition or songwriting/producing. This year the list of guest teachers includes Matana Roberts (US), Kris Davis (CAN), Cameron Deas (UK) and Tore Johansson (SWE) alongside Jeppe Zeeberg (DK), Jacob Anderskov (DK) and Anders P. Jensen (DK).

Matana Roberts is an internationally renowned composer, band leader, saxophonist, sound experimentalist and mixed-media practitioner. Roberts works in many contexts and mediums, including improvisation, dance, poetry, and theater. She is perhaps best known for her acclaimed Coin Coin project, a multi-chapter work of “panoramic sound quilting” that aims to expose the mystical roots and channel the intuitive spirit-raising traditions of American creative expression. Released on Constellation Records.

Canadian pianist-composer Kris Davis has blossomed as one of the singular talents on the New York jazz scene, a deeply thoughtful, resolutely individual artist who offers “uncommon creative adventure”, according to JazzTimes. Davis has performed with such top figures as Paul Motian, Bill Frisell, Tim Berne, John Hollenbeck, Michael Formanek and Mary Halvorson. Davis started playing piano at age 6, studying classical music through the Royal Conservatory in Canada. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Piano from the University of Toronto and attended the Banff Centre for the Arts jazz program in 1997 and 2000.

The summer workshops are held by Rhythmic Music Conservatory in collaboration with Copenhagen Jazz Festival – meaning there will be plenty of events to attend in the evenings as well.
