Makiko Hirabayashi has received wide critical acclaim as a personal voice on the in-
ternational jazz scene since the release of her debut album as a leader in 2006. During the
last two decades, she has toured the globe with her trio/quartet and released 9 albums
under her own name.
Quartet,Weavers made their debut at a Palestinian jazz festival in Haifa in 2018, and the
raw, spiritual energy of this place has influenced their music from the very beginning.
Their self-titled debut album won Jazz Album Of the Year at Danish Music Awards 2021. –

The band features some of the leading figures of the Scandinavian music scene – Fredrik

verse areas of music as rock, jazz, world music and avant-garde. Keeping the collective,
creative force at its core, Weavers explore new paths in music, balancing between strong
lyricism and abstract soundscapes.
The program will also include music from their recent project where Makiko was commis-
sioned to write music inspired by the baroque composer, Georg Friedrich Händel. This was premiered in June 2023 at Händel Festival in Halle. Makiko’s multicultural background and
musical diversity is reflected in her music that draws inspiration from both classical music
and jazz amongst others....
