SANYU (Oslo, Norway)
Sanyu is an Oslo based singer and producer who during 2023 made a name for herself performing at numerous festivals such as Oya, VillVillVest and on several occasions at Copenhagen and Oslo’s Jazz Festivals. In September 2024 she will release her debut EP, and this will be followed by a Norway + Denmark tour in the winter of 2025.
With a background in soul and improvisation, her music bears the stamp of a soulful expression with warm harmonies, but also plays around with rap and groove-based riffs in a soundscape where the acoustic and electronic are closely woven together.
"Her determined and exploratory soul interspersed with tactile spoken word and hammering jazz charges the audience with an energy that lasts the whole evening". On the stage she will be joined by drummer, Rino Sivathas, multiinstrumentalist Kristina Fransson and doubblebassplayer, Joachim Mørch Meyer.
