Open Air highlights at Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2017
Experience the unique atmosphere as jazz takes over Copenhagen’s historic streets, parks and plazas. We’ve collected a few highlights from a handful of the many outdoor venues at Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2017.
Jazz by the Sea / Kulturhuset Islands Brygge is a recurring – as well as immensely popular – concert theme, where open air concerts are presented every night during the festival in the beautiful, maritime surroundings at Kulturhuset Islands Brygge. The concerts span both groups, ensembles and jazz vocalists from throughout the world and from the local Danish scene.
The Royal Shooting range country house – Sølyst in Klampenborg – debuted as an outdoor venue during Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2013. The beautifully situated Sølyst is the perfect setting for acoustic instrumental and vocal jazz of the highest order, and the venue is proud to present an exciting array of artists of the international elite from both Denmark, the US and beyond.
Haveselskabets Have (The Garden Society’s Garden) at Frederiksberg is one of Copenhagen’s most idyllic and picturesque open air venues. At Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2017, the venue offers twelve high quality concerts for anyone who enjoys jazz in all its forms and shapes as well as three concerts for kids of all ages.
The oldest park in Copenhagen, Kongens Have, has existed for more than 400 years. Originally a private royal garden, today the park attracts approximately three million visitors every year, neighboured by the National Gallery of Denmark and the stunning Botanical Garden. Kongens Have is the biggest venue at Copenhagen Jazz Festival measured in both square meters and attendance, drawing spectacular crowds to its annual free concerts.
With its stage surrounded by historic buildings and scenic linden trees, the public square Balders Plads on Nørrebro is a true gem. With its impressive list of free concerts spanning all aspects of jazz with a definite weight put on New Orleans- inspired acts, Balders Plads remains on of the festival’s biggest and most active venues. Curated by nearby coffee shop, Røde Roses Kaffebar, the open air stage is in action during all ten days of Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2017.
