Welcome to Bakkehuset and to the ideas of the Golden Age on art, and the natural and social sciences. Ideas that are still relevant in our daily lives and how we look at the present day. Here we are offering an oasis with something for all our senses: the sense of taste in The Orangery, of smell in the garden and for the intellect in the form of our permanent collections, special exhibitions and the many arrangements in the Museum, the garden and The Orangery.


In the museum you can visit the commemorative rooms for Kamma and Knud Lyne Rahbek, who lived at Bakkehuset in the Golden Age. Kamma Rahbek was something so special as a notable female figure in the first decades of the 19th century. She was a talented and intelligent woman who together with her husband attrcted the outstanding personalities of the day to their home Among them were the poet Adam Oehlenschläger, the physicist H.C.
