Mono feat. Tobias Delius

Free admission

Mono is a trio of three musicians who each stand as distinctive voices on the Copenhagen scene — pianist and five-time DMA winner Simon Toldam (Han Bennink Trio, Toldam Trio), bassist AC (Jakob Bro, Paul Motian) and drummer Peter Bruun (Django Bates' Belovèd Trio on ECM, All Too Human). Together they take on the music of Thelonious Monk — perhaps the most-played and most-enigmatic songbook in jazz — with precisely the listening, open and humorous approach Monk's compositions call for. Tonight the trio is joined by a very special guest: Berlin-based Tobias Delius, born in England and raised in Germany and Mexico, a core member of Amsterdam's legendary ICP Orchestra and recipient of the prestigious Boy Edgar Prize. His warm, broad tone draws lines between the swing tradition and European free improvisation. An evening with Monk at the centre and four strong voices around him.

Line up:
  • Simon Toldam – klaver
  • AC – kontrabas
  • Peter Bruun – trommer
  • Tobias Delius – tenorsaxofon, klarinet (gæst)
