Walt Weiskopf European Quartet
The giant American tenor saxophonist, composer and songwriter Walt Weiskopf and his Danish/European trio released in 2022 their sixth album - Diamonds and Other Jewels - with six original compositions by Weiskopf as well as a jazz standard.
The quartet has been touring since 2017, and Weiskopf sees this band as his "working band", alongside the iconic Steely Dan, of which he has been a member since 2003.
Walt Weiskopf started his career at the age of 21 in drumming legend Buddy Rich's big band. He then toured with Frank Sinatra, and since 1989 he has released over 20 CDs under his own name, including with Brad Mehldau, Renee Rosnes and Billy Drummond.
With his collaboration with the three Danish musicians, Weiskopf weavws the threads together: "This is what I've always wanted to do - to work with like-minded musicians, to write music, share it and perform all over the world, this is my professional dream come true”.
