Jan Kaspersen Kvintet

With its immediate swinging expression, often added with a splash of humor, JK5 delivers a lively and warm concert. The repertoire is primarily original music, composed by Kaspersen, but in between works by Monk, Ellington/Strayhorn and standards will also be played.
Bandleader Kaspersen has, ever since his years with the iconic group Blue Sun (1969-72), enriched us with his music with roots in jazz, bebop, swing, Latin, blues and rock.
Simon Spang-Hanssen and Fredrik Lundin are front figures in the group, who with their superb playing and familiarity with Kaspersen's music add imaginative and expressive solos to the quintet.
Ole Rømer is the anchor in the rhythm group and Niels Ryde contributes - as the new and youngest member - with his virtuoso bass playing to a high-level ensemble.
JK5 irecently published the album "Music and Madness", with 11 new compositions by Jan Kaspersen.

Line up:
  • Simon Spang-Hanssen (as), Fredrik Lundin (ts), Niels Ryde (b), Jan Kaspersen (p), Ole Rømer (dm)
