About Maggie Nicols
As a freely improvised vocalist, Maggie Nicols joined London's legendary Spontaneous Music Ensemble in 1968. She then became active as an organiser of voice workshops and became deeply involved in community-based experimental theatre. She later joined the group Centipede, led by British pianist and composer Keith Tippets, and in 1977 she formed the famous Feminist Improvising Group with musician and composer Lindsay Cooper.

About Maggie Nicols
As a freely improvised vocalist, Maggie Nicols joined London's legendary Spontaneous Music Ensemble in 1968. A few years later, she started a performance group for women, Contradictions, which explored improvisation and other forms of performance in a variety of media, including music and dance. Over the years, Nicols has collaborated with other women's groups, such as the Changing Women Theatre Group, and scored a prime-time TV series, Women in Sport.
Today, she continues to work in music and theatre, either in collaboration with a number of artists (Irene Schweitzer, Joelle Leandre, Ken Hyder, Caroline Kraabel) or solo.
