There’s a new wind blowing from the west of Denmark. A wind that soon will be
heard and felt everywhere.
Whether it’s afternoon brawls at the harbour, anxiety in the local train crossing the
desolate landscapes, or Brazilian rhythms dreaming of sun and beaches far away from
the grey streets of Esbjerg in the west of Denmark, Ellegaard/Frøland/Knudsen paint a
vivid and humorous picture of life with the sea as your neighbour. The music is a fresh
breeze on the Danish jazz scene, and the three musicians each contribute with their
own take on the sounds of jazz in the raw Western Jutland. It’s unruly and playful, but
also heartfelt, nostalgic and sincere when necessary.
The trio plays instrumental jazz with roots in both the great american tradition, the
rhythms of Brazil and the strong danish folk song tradition.
