A few years ago, the Grønvad-Søndergaard Quintet released the critically acclaimed CD “Plays the Latin Vibe of Clare Fischer” on Storyville Records. After a string of successful concerts in Copenhagen jazz clubs, we are looking forward to touring the country.
The music is composed by pianist Clare Fischer, who became a well-known name in the Latin Jazz community on the American West Coast, especially in the 60s. Beautiful melodies with complex and surprising harmonies.
The band plays with an exuberant energy and a playful approach to the music.
Here is a selection of one of the reviews:
.. I doubt that you’ll find better performances of this music anywhere else. In addition to Grønvad’s excellent playing, I also enjoyed Thomas Bornø’s very fine piano solos.
All in all a wonderful album, well worth checking out for fans of both latin jazz and Clare Fischer.

.. I always look forward to Grønvad’s solos on various club instruments. And it doesn’t hurt to have Niclas Campagnol on the grooved sambas. Søndergaard has a lovely solo on Gaviota. Bornø’s intelligent and timed piano contributions support the whole..

.. and I must say that I understand the five’s love for Clare Fischer’s Latin jazz, and I appreciate their revitalization of the works. The quintet has grasped the essence of the expression and dares to bring out the colors. I must say that I am particularly impressed by Søndergaard’s sax, but also by the ensemble as such. The numbers are melodic, very beautiful and captivating.
