The second Saturday in our festival program is under the theme: Back to New Orleans - NOLA Jazz.

The city's best blues and jazz musicians meet on Drop Inn's intimate stage and give a bang of a tribute concert to none other than the legend Mac Rebennack aka Dr. John. Since the 1960s and until his death in 2019, he combined blues, funk, jazz and soul in the sound that is so unmistakable for 'The Big Easy'; a big gumbo of joy of playing, juice, power and originality. Of course, all the while with roots deeply planted in New Orleans' fantastic music history and with respect for those who came before him.

The evening features the band's favorite songs from the doctor's repertoire, from "Iko Iko" to "Such A Night" from "The Last Waltz" to his probably biggest hit, the top 10 single "Right Place At The Wrong Time".
The evening's band consists of members of the Jazz Five, the Chris Copen Band and two special guests from New Orleans; Saxophonist James Martin and singer, Tricia Boutté.
Both musicians have performed several times with Dr. John himself, so it doesn't get much more authentic....
