Polish guitarist Raphael Rogiński has built a reputation as a unique musician in the field between folk, experimental and jazzy improvisation with his distinctive tone and a wide range of exciting projects. Whether he takes on traditional Polish folk music in the duo Żywizna, Jewish Hasidism in the band Shofar, hypnotic West African tones with the band Hizbut Jamm or reinterpretations of John Coltrane's music translated to the guitar, he does it with a special tone that contains echoes of melancholy, raw blues and spiritual trance mood.

During Vinterjazz 2024, the unique musician will visit Copenhagen with his latest and critically acclaimed solo album "Talàn". An album that has already found its way onto several international lists of the year's best records and has garnered superlative reviews in media such as The Wire, The Quietus and Pitchfork.
The album, released on the excellent Instant Classic label, is inspired by the Black Sea and partly composed in and around the almost mythical Ukrainian port city of Odesa, which has historically been an important portal between Europe and Asia. In this way, "Talàn", like much of Rogiński's other music, bridges different cultures and opens new horizons for the listener. The album has cemented Rogiński's position as an imaginative guitarist whose music opens up rich landscapes and deep cultural roots.
It is with great pride that HUSET and Fanø Free Folk Festival together present a solo concert with the masterful musician at Musikcafeen during Vinterjazz 2024.
Support: Tanja Vesterbye Jessen
Although she has been known in the Copenhagen underground scene since the 90s for her radical approach to the electric guitar in bands such as Vinyl Dog Joy, Amstrong and currently Distortion Girls - not to mention her skills as a recording and mixing engineer for countless other bands and projects - Tanja Vesterbye Jessen first emerged as a solo artist in 2018 with the album "Feeling Love". The album serves as a summation and culmination of the central themes that run through her various bands and projects, from a deep love of repetition to the clash between melody and guitar noise, traditional song forms and more abstract structures. Starting with a series of simple pop songs originally written on acoustic guitar, Tanja celebrates and interrogates their melodic core, transforming them using electricity, stomp boxes and semi-destroyed amplifiers. When Tanja Vesterbye Jessen performs live, you can expect a utopia where folk, pop and noise coexist and melt into each other - all bathed in the warm glow of the distorted electric guitar.
All in all, the stage is set for a boundary-pushing evening with two highly personal and expressive explorations of the guitar's possibilities....
