GØ’s debut album offered a fresh, modern take on the free jazz genre, drawing significant local attention and establishing the band as a key player in the thriving Faroese jazz scene. It wasn’t until their second album, “Ævir, amen”, that GØ really went from a local jazz group to a household name in the Faroe Islands. The album garnered significant attention in the Faroe Islands and also throughout Europe, with outlets such as Jazzwise praising the release. Furthermore “Ævir, amen” won Best Alternative Album at the Faroese Music Awards 2024.
In their first real venture outside the cosy confines of the Faroe Islands, GØ played at Reykjavík Jazz Festival in August 2024 and garnered multiple positive reviews from media outlets, such as Jazzwise, NRWjazz and TVrocklive. Jazzwise wrote:

If they can crack the European/UK market, they could well have a bright future playing to
adventurous, open-minded jazz connoisseurs.”
In conclusion, GØ has emerged as a bold and innovative force in the Faroese jazz scene, pushing the boundaries of genre with their eclectic sound and fearless experimentation. Their unique blend of jazz, rock, and cinematic influences has captivated audiences both locally and internationally. With the release of their second album, Ævir, amen., and the praise they've garnered from prestigious festivals like the Reykjavík Jazz Festival, and Jazzahead, GØ is poised to make a significant impact on the European jazz market. Their unpredictable performances and distinctive sound promise a bright future for this adventurous and forward-thinking quintet....
