In her upcoming album “Great Doubt” (Escho, January 2024), Sonne unfolds her distinctive musical expression with her vocals at the front, conveying simple messages about emotional states through sparse lyrics. The music beautifully accompanies the vocals, filling the sonic universe with viola sequences, digital brass elements, and airy flutes. Beats and detuned piano add fresh dimensions to the sound, showcasing how Sonne’s practice continually evolves into new territories.

With a background in classical music, Astrid Sonne explores the borderland between the organic and the electronic. Her expansive compositions, ranging from synthesizers to viola sequences and vocal sampling, draw on the rich European card tradition as well as trance and cacophonous experiments. Like no other, Sonne manages to express vulnerable emotional states in minimalist and static soundscapes – a human tenderness in a futuristic sonic universe that has become her hallmark and has established her as one of the key figures on the Danish and international experimental scene. Tara Clerkin Trio
Tara Clerkin Trio consists of Pat Benjamin, Sunny Joe Paradisos, and Tara Clerkin – three musicians who had been involved in various cult-based bands in Bristol before joining forces in a trio formation. Drawing inspiration from jazz, trip-hop, electronica, psychedelia, and minimalism, Tara Clerkin Trio effortlessly weaves them together into charming, semi-psychedelic songs with a greenish hue, paying homage to Arthur Russell, Broadcast, and Portishead. Their latest EP, “On The Turning Ground,” was released on the London-based label World of Echo in November to critical acclaim. Tara Clerkin performs her first Danish concert this evening at Copenhagen Distillery, sharing the stage with Astrid Sonne....
