One gets the sense that the adventure has only just begun for Josefine Opsahl, who, despite her young age, already boasts an impressive catalog. She released her debut album, “Atrium” (Dacapo Records), in 2022, receiving high praise both domestically and internationally. She has composed symphonies and music for several performances and operas. Opsahl has been described as an “outstanding opera composer” (Politiken and Magasinet Klassisk), and her first opera, “Drømmedøden,” was hailed as “a musical sensation” by the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter. The spring of 2023 marked the premiere of her own concerto for cello and orchestra, as well as her solo debut in the USA at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC). Not least, she has a close collaboration with the Royal Danish Ballet, and her latest ballet work will premiere at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen in March 2024.

Josefine Opsahl received the Wilhelm Hansen Foundation’s Honorary Award in 2020, the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize in 2021, and, notably, the prestigious Crown Prince Couple’s Cultural Stardust Award in 2022.
